I first came across the work of Marion Billet last month in our local kids books store. I love the little details she puts into her work. Reminds me of The Busy World of Richard Scarry. You can check out her portfolio or buy her prints here.

I know these are supposed to be holiday playing cards for adults but these would be such a nice alternative to the traditional alphabet cards for kids you find or even framed for a nursery! All of Valerie Jar’s illustration work for the Grand America Hotel has a great sensibility to it and her dribbble page has tons of great previews.

A whole set of these vintage inspired alphabet prints from Methan Studios on Etsy would make such a perfect baby shower gift. They’re unique and colourful without going overboard. Contemplating the set of motorcycles prints for when our son is ready for a “big boy room”.

Chris Lensch shows a really diverse range of styles in his portfolio. My favorites are the pieces that incorporate recycled notebooks papers in the background with his illustrations on top but I equally like his more commercial work like these restaurant placemats he did. I consider myself a kiddy-placemat-connoisseur and these have got to be the nicest I’ve ever seen! Check out his blog for more recent work.

Did you know McSweeney’s publishes kids books? Me neither. McMullen’s is their children’s imprint and they feature a few interesting titles for kids. First of all, Keep Our Secrets (to be read in whisper) by Jordan Crane has an adorable title and second of all has heat sensitive ink! Watch the video to see how it works.
